The Lotus app was created as a simple tool to help small businesses, with a non-existing marketing team, create awareness around their products. Lotus can be simplified as "Buffer for ecommerce". It was a great tool as helping merchants spread the word about their offering while saving them a lot of time managing social content. The main advantage of Lotus over competing solutions was its direct integration with ecommerce platforms such as Shopify allowing you to pull products data directly from your shop.
The Lotus app was a success from the get-go with over 500 merchants installing the app in its first week. This shows that there was a lot of demand for a social media management tool tailored for ecommerce. We initially had a lot of plans to develop Lotus further, however, we realize down the line that managing social media API connections require a lot more maintenance than initially planned with most of them changing their API too frequently including permissions and accesses. Meanwhile, other tools have emerged with greater social media integrations. It was becoming harder and harder to justify adding new features to the Lotus app.
We will therefore be sunsetting the Lotus app so that we can focus on our core mission which is developing solutions to help merchants increase customer retention.
